On Tuesday, February 23rd and Wednesday, February 26th, the high school and middle school students of PAC participated in a knock-out tournament fundraiser to shoot baskets for a good cause. The knock-out tournament was run by the members of the Interact Club and was a fundraiser for Nothing But Nets, a program that gives mosquito nets to people in Africa. Every sixty seconds, a child in Africa contracts malaria, a disease that kills over half a million people every year. Each net can reduce a child's chance of getting malaria by 20%. These mosquito nets cost $10 each. On Tuesday during Tribes, the high school students paid $1 to support this cause and have fun in a friendly basketball competition. The winner of the high school tournament and recipient of a free large pizza donated by the Pocahontas Pizza Ranch was Brock Hubbell. On Friday during Tribes, the middle school students had the same opportunity. The winner of the middle school tournament and recipient of two free movie passes donated by the Pocahontas Rialto was Luke Vanderham.
